Matt Mullins

Matt Mullins

Chief Driving Instructor

Matt Mullins is Chief Driving Instructor for BMW North America and has been with the BMW Performance Driving Schools since 2001. An accomplished race car driver and stunt driver, he has more than 25 years of experience in film and television with credits including Gran Turismo, Ford v Ferrari, Talladega Nights: The Ballad if Ricky Bobby and the BMW short film The Escape. Matt has set multiple Guinness World Records, including the longest tandem drift, and holds a Pikes Peak record for the fastest hybrid SUV. Over his career, he has coached thousands of students, from professional drivers to U.S. Special Forces.

Adam Seaman

Adam Seaman

Lead Driving Instructor

Adam Seaman is a Lead Instructor at the BMW Performance Center in Spartanburg. With roots in the motorsport of drifting, he mastered the art of weight transfer, vehicle balance and precision driving before bringing that expertise to BMW. Adam now works with drivers of all levels, from first-time students to experienced track enthusiasts, focusing on building confidence and control behind the wheel. Known for combining technical instruction with high-energy coaching, he helps students sharpen their skills while experiencing the thrill of true performance driving.

Colin Foley

Colin Foley

Colin Foley is a Driving Instructor at the BMW Performance Center. Originally from New Jersey, his background in endurance racing provided a strong foundation in vehicle control, strategy and adaptability under pressure. He later advanced into tactical and antiterrorism driving instruction, training drivers to manage high-risk and demanding situations. Since joining BMW in 2021, Colin has combined his racing expertise and tactical knowledge to deliver world-class instruction. His passion for performance driving and dedication to safety enable him to help students build confidence while developing the skills needed to excel behind the wheel.

Dylan Archer

Dylan Archer

Dylan Archer is a Driving Instructor at the BMW Performance Center. He began competing in motorsports at age four in karts and bandoleros before returning to racing in 2018 through sim racing. That success led him back to the track in 2020, competing in the Trans Am TA2 Series while also coaching drivers. Dylan has earned multiple wins and track records, was voted Trans Am TA2’s Most Popular Driver in 2022 and competed in the Chili Bowl Nationals in 2023 and 2024. Continuing a 40-year family racing legacy, he brings a unique and dynamic background to motorsports.

James Brookshire

James Brookshire

James Brookshire is a Driving Instructor at the BMW Performance Center. A second-generation racer, he grew up immersed in motorsports through his father’s engineering and racing career and made his own competition debut in formula cars. James has recorded wins in the SCCA Hoosier Super Tour and South Atlantic Road Racing series and was lead driver for RG Nets Motorsports in Formula Enterprises during the 2023–2024 seasons. He is also an accomplished cyclist, having won multiple regional titles and qualified for the 1996 U.S. Olympic Trials. James has been with the Performance Center since 2021.

Andy van Cleef

Andy van Cleef

Andy van Cleef is a Driving Instructor at the BMW Performance Center. He discovered his passion for cars and engines as a teenager and caught the racing bug at 19. Over the past 40 years, Andy has competed in multiple forms of racing, from go-karts to sports cars, while also working as an engine builder, crew chief, driving instructor and race car driver. His time at the Performance Center has deepened his knowledge of vehicle dynamics and sharpened his skills, while giving him an even greater appreciation for the design, engineering and balance of the Ultimate Driving Machine®.

David Dalton Jr.

David Dalton Jr.

David Dalton Jr. is a Driving Instructor at the BMW Performance Center. Born in Montclair, New Jersey, he discovered his love for cars at age five through Hot Wheels and Gran Turismo 2 before advancing to kart racing at 13. In 2018, David debuted professionally in the Lucas Oil Formula Car Series and Formula 4 US Championship. He now races for Williams in the Prodigy Racing League in Radical SR1s and other high-downforce cars. A former Certified BMW Technician, David now combines technical expertise with racing experience to help students understand the performance and engineering behind BMWs.

Reid Wilson

Reid Wilson

Reid Wilson is a Driving Instructor at the BMW Performance Center. He began racing at age seven and went on to build a 20-year career that included competing in the NASCAR Truck Series. Reid joined BMW in 2021 and has since expanded his expertise into drifting and performance driving, sharing his passion for speed and precision with students. Off the track, he enjoys sim racing, golfing and backpacking, reflecting a love of both competition and exploration. Reid brings the energy of a professional racer and the perspective of a well-rounded instructor to every driving experience.

Rafael Torres

Rafael Torres

Rafael Torres is a Driving Instructor at the BMW Performance Center. Originally from Bogotá, Colombia, he discovered racing at age eight in go-karts and went on to compete successfully in rally and touring car racing. Driving a BMW, he became a three-time German Touring Series champion and set multiple lap records before moving into endurance racing, where he earned numerous wins and podiums across the United States. Today, Rafael focuses on competing in Europe with plans to race at the Nürburgring Nordschleife while sharing his experience and knowledge with students at the BMW Driving School.

William “Bill” Snyder

William “Bill” Snyder

William “Bill” Snyder is a Driving Instructor at the BMW Performance Center. He began racing off-road motorcycles in Pennsylvania at age eight, later competing in AMA road racing on a Yamaha FZR600 and in autocross events across the Southeast. Bill holds a mechanical engineering degree from Penn State University and served eight years as a U.S. Army officer and seven years in law enforcement. His professional driving career includes four years as a test driver for Michelin and eight years with BMW Manufacturing. Bill joined the BMW Performance Center in 2021, bringing decades of motorsport and technical experience.

Ryan Reeves

Ryan Reeves

Ryan Reeves is a Driving Instructor at the BMW Performance Center. Originally from Omaha, NE, he began his career in competitive dirt track sprint car racing and has since built more than 20 years of experience in motorsports and driver instruction. Ryan holds multiple international driving instructor certifications and is known for his calm demeanor and dynamic teaching style that adapts to drivers of every skill level. He also holds a master’s degree in automotive engineering, combining technical knowledge with racing expertise. When he’s not at work, Ryan enjoys golfing, snowboarding and spending time outdoors.

Mike Renner

Mike Renner

Mike Renner is a Driving Instructor at the BMW Performance Center and has been with the school since its opening in 1999. He began racing in 1983 and has competed in GT, showroom stock, improved touring and sports racer classes in everything from sprints to 24-hour events. Mike started instructing in 1988, working with drivers ranging from new students to FBI and Secret Service agents. Internationally certified by BMW M, he has trained at iconic tracks including the Nürburgring and Salzburgring. As part of his role, Mike also drives BMW’s historic race cars, from the CSL to the McLaren F1 GTR.

Donnie Isley

Donnie Isley

Donnie Isley is a Driving Instructor at the BMW Performance Center. He has held a competition racing license since 1981 and has earned more than 75 national wins in Formula Vee. Donnie began working at the Performance Center in 2001 and later achieved international BMW instructor certification. In addition to his instructional role, he manages corporate sales programs, leading European performance experiences for clients. For 17, years he has hosted trips to the Nürburgring and for eight years to the BMW Winter Test Center on a frozen lake near the Arctic Circle.

Rob Stout

Rob Stout

Lead Instructor

Rob Stout is a Lead Instructor at the BMW Performance Center. He began his motorsports career at age 13 in national kart racing and by 17 had already earned a NASA National Championship in sports car racing. Over the years, Rob added two more professional championships and achieved success in sports cars, sprint cars and off-road trucks. After more than a decade with BMW, he now focuses on sharing his expertise with both new drivers and experienced competitors while continuing to race and enjoy the sport himself.

Christopher Hill

Christopher Hill

Christopher Hill is a Driving Instructor at the BMW Performance Center with more than 30 years of racing and coaching experience in karts, formula cars, rally cars and sports cars. He has instructed at many of the top racing schools in the United States and has been a full-time instructor with the West Coast Performance Center since its opening. Christopher is passionate about helping drivers reach their full potential, whether in high-performance driving or competitive racing, and is known for developing confident, capable drivers who excel on track.

Dave McMillan

Dave McMillan

Dave McMillan is a Driving Instructor at the BMW Performance Center. He began his racing career in motocross before moving to off-road competition in the SCORE series and later into Formula car road racing. Over his career, he has raced and instructed on most major circuits across North America and several tracks in Asia. Dave has been instructing with BMW for more than a decade and has been part of the Performance Center team since 2014, where he shares his extensive international motorsports and coaching experience with students of all levels.

David Thilenius

David Thilenius

David Thilenius is a Driving Instructor at the BMW Performance Center and a professional racecar driver and vehicle dynamics engineer. Starting at 17, he built a career that bridges engineering and racing, teaching performance driving to engineers at multiple automotive manufacturers while conducting advanced vehicle dynamics evaluations. David raced successfully in Formula cars before moving into endurance sports car racing, earning an IMSA championship in 2010 and wins at the Nürburgring. Since 2015, he has combined his racing and engineering expertise to deliver high-level instruction at BMW.

Bryan Randall

Bryan Randall

Bryan Randall is a Driving Instructor at the BMW Performance Center, where he has been an instructor since 2015 after joining BMW in 2010. He previously taught with Skip Barber Racing at Laguna Seca and has worked as a precision driver for television and commercial productions, including The Bachelorette, BMW, Pirelli and the Petersen Automotive Museum. Bryan has trained celebrities, professional athletes and military personnel from around the world in stunt driving, evasive maneuvers and security driving, bringing a rare combination of performance expertise and instructional skill to every program.

Case Montgomery

Case Montgomery

Case Montgomery is a Driving Instructor at the BMW Performance Center. He began his career at Russell Racing School in 1989, where he quickly won back-to-back championships and Rookie of the Year honors. Case went on to international competition in Formula Ford, Formula Vauxhall Lotus and Formula Atlantic, earning numerous wins including the Long Beach Grand Prix. He also won the USAC Triple Crown Championship in 1994, secured 60-plus SCCA victories and competed in the 24 Hours of Daytona. With decades of professional racing success, Case now shares his knowledge and experience with BMW students.

Bryan Payne

Bryan Payne

Bryan Payne is a Driving Instructor at the BMW Performance Center and a professional race car driver and instructor. Originally from Louisville, Kentucky, he began racing at 16 and quickly rose through the ranks, earning Rookie of the Year recognition. Bryan has worked with BMW, Porsche, Audi, Lexus, Ford, Chevrolet and other manufacturers as both a precision driver and instructor. He has also led specialized driving programs for the U.S. military. With decades of experience in racing and instruction, Bryan combines technical expertise with professional polish to deliver exceptional driver coaching.

Rick Porter

Rick Porter

Rick Porter is a Level 2 Driving Instructor at the BMW Performance Center with more than 40 years of racing experience. He specializes in low-friction driving, drifting and stunt instruction, as well as teen driver safety programs. Rick has also served as an EVOC instructor at the California Highway Patrol Police Academy and as a coach for the Long Beach Grand Prix Pro Celebrity Race. In addition to endurance racing, he has extensive off-road and four-wheel driving experience and is an avid motorcyclist and boater.

Derek Ware

Derek Ware

Derek Ware is a Driving Instructor at the BMW Performance Center. He began karting at age nine, winning multiple championships before advancing to Formula cars and capturing the Skip Barber Shootout Championship in 2017. Derek then moved into sports cars, competing in IMSA and other endurance series for more than eight years. Off the track, he has worked as a stunt driver in commercials and television, and has appeared as a guest on Netflix and MotorTrend programs. His diverse background spans drifting, off-road challenges and specialty driving worldwide.
