BMW Performance Driving School East

TURN AND LEARN

Sacred speed ground for BMW fans, the BMW Performance Center East is host to a full track that’s sure to thrill. Established in 1999, it’s located just across the street from BMW’s only U.S. factory. Our track offers terrific flexibility – with elevations and corners great for new drivers – and can be reconfigured for high-performance M Driver events.

THE BMW PERFORMANCE CENTER TRACK AT SOUTH CAROLINA

BMW M3 drifting

Drive, Drift, Do

There’s always a new challenge to explore. Our 2.3-mile track is built on over 137 acres and includes a smooth, polished concrete skid pad, off-road areas for our X vehicles, a full autocross section, and some serious turns, dives and straightaways to help you build confidence behind the wheel (and push a BMW as hard as you can).

We’ll reconfigure the track for different driving exercises, helping you make the most of your time with us. Just watch those cones.

WHAT IS AUTOCROSS?

Imagine that you’re at the starting line – look ahead to a series of cones pointing you in the direction you’re supposed to go. You’ll put in some real work here as you use the throttle, brakes and steering to adjust quickly where you’re going. Our autocross track includes tight turns, sweeping corners and elevation transitions that test car control, precision and quick reflexes.

THE CLOCK NEVER LIES

We set up our autocross course through some switchbacks and fast turns with cornering and acceleration speed and braking, which means you need to use every bit of performance from that TwinPower Turbo engine. Hit a cone, and we subtract time off your run. End your session by coming to a stop in our stop box – if the car isn’t perfectly in the spot, more time is added.

CHASE THE CHEESE

Our Rat Race course is set up on an oval asphalt pad. We turn on the sprinklers and tell you to turn off the stability and traction control, enabling you to find the perfect balance of slip and grip.

EASY, TIGER

We get how eager you are – the goal is to catch the other car as you drive around the oval, but if you push too hard, the car will spin out and give your opponent the perfect opportunity to catch up. Practice makes perfect, so take another lap and try to keep it under control. The first one to cross their finish line wins.

POLISHED TO PERFECTION

Our polished concrete is already slippery, and we add water to the mix that enables you to level up your drift game. Use the throttle to feather the power and create a delicate balance of slip and traction.

DRIFT LIKE A BOSS

Our skid pad is one of the few place in the country where you can safely learn how to drift in a controlled environment, making it an invaluable asset to teach hydroplaning, slipping on ice and high-performance driving.

Time to Get Dirty

Our off-road course features rock climbs, water fjords, hills that get your wheels off the ground and a steep dive that lets you test out our Hill Descent Control feature (hands off the wheel for that one). This is a roller coaster, only you’re in control.

Home of X

Climb to the top of our off-road course, and you’ll see the BMW Spartanburg factory just across the street. Many of our X vehicles are assembled right there, and now you get to put them to the test.
